FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FEP Auditions New Logo

Novice Fractalizer Finds a Fractal Edge

March 28, 2004 -- Just before 11 p.m. today, novice fractal creator and owner of a brand-spanking new copy of Ultra Fractal 3, the Editor/Publisher of Fractal Edge Press, Wayne Allen Jones, settled on the first candidate for the FEP Logo. He had long thought to steal one of the many amazing fractal images from the Web, but in deference to the care taken by experts to ensure that their images are copyrighted and to the laws upon which the safety of his own creative endeavor rests, Jones thought better and finally purchased a real fractal generator.
In a few minutes of parameter fiddling after the Quick Tutorial, he found an edge worth considering:

The FEP website now reflects the trial logo. The audition (vidition?) period will last until one of three outcomes obtain: 1) the FEP email-box is flooded with universal praise of the image; 2) the FEP email-box is flooded with universal condemnation of the image; 3) the FEP email-box languishes, receiving no comments, Jones gets bored with the candidate logo, finds an amazingly superior candidate, trots it out for a trial, and waits again for feedback from the generous aesthetes willing to share their opinions on the matter [that also goes for the patrons of Weeds ;^) and The Cafe ;^) and Trace ;^) and Coffee Chicago ;^) and the Guild Complex ;^) ].
For the non-even math-enabled, but avid mouser and key-combo manipulators of graphical interfaces, you can get a trial version of Ultra Fractal 3 from www.ultraftactal.com. The product is only $59 bucks to purchase - it's so great you might as well buy it on spec. You won't be disappointed if you care anything anywhere near software that's easy to use and makes the pursuit of beauty a real pursuit: your control is not completely unlike the control you have looking for beautiful landscapes with a wallet full of open plane tickets and a rental car with free gas anywhere you land and you have a professional digital camera that is always in focus and captures whatever you see that's interesting. Are you tired of the commercial, yet? Here's some of the other sights I found along the first path through the Newton formula:

The last one is titled "Newton's Baleen" - a Pinocchio's-eye view, wooden you know.

And just for fun here is the Ultra Fractal 3 Website header (notice how subtle their application of color and design - they're not novices - dig?):

As always your comments via email to FEPedit@FractalEdgePress.com or your comments submitted through the feedback link on every page of the FEP website are welcome and appreciated.
